RV Fire Kills George Schabelnik While He Served DUI Sentence

A fire at a mobile home park has left one man dead, authorities in Lancaster County announced on Monday, Jan. 22.

George Schabelnik, 74, died an accidental death at the scene of the fire caused by smoke inhalation and thermal burns at 12:55 p.m., the coroner details in a release. 

The fire broke out in his RV parked at 2379 River Road in Conoy Township around 11:59 a.m. on Sunday, Jan. 21, according to the coroner's office.

Schabelnik was serving five years of probation for trespass by motor vehicle, restrictions on alcoholic beverages, and his second guilty plea for driving under the influence in less than a year, court records show. He had previously pleaded guilty and served probation for resisting arrest, and harassment, according to court documents and police releases.
